Ibrahim Owodunni, known as Primeboy, is taking legal action against the Nigeria Police Force after they declared him wanted in connection with the death of his friend, the late singer Mohbad. The lawsuit was filed at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on October 11, 2024.
The trouble started on October 4, 2023, when the Lagos State Police Command publicly declared Primeboy wanted because he didn’t respond to their invitation regarding the investigation into Mohbad’s tragic death. The very next day, Primeboy surrendered to the police.
Now, in a statement from his lawyer, Akinpelu Ogunbona, Primeboy is asking the court to remove his name from the wanted list. He argues that the police’s actions violate his right to dignity and respect.
Ogunbona explained: “Primeboy has sued the police via an originating motion filed on October 11 before the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos.
“His prayers to the court include a declaration that the special police gazette bulletin issued by the office of the IGP declaring Primeboy wanted was a contravention of Primeboy’s right to respect for the dignity of his human person.
“Also, Primeboy prayed the court to delist his name from the wanted list amongst other prayers.”
This lawsuit comes shortly after Primeboy mentioned he might sue Mohbad’s mother, Abosede Adeyemo-Aloba, for defamation. The situation highlights ongoing tensions surrounding Mohbad’s death and the impact it has had on those close to him.
