Burna Boy and Odumodublvck Miss Out at the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards

The 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards took place recently, and unfortunately, Nigerian artists Burna Boy and Odumodublvck left the show empty-handed. Burna Boy was nominated for Best Live Performer but lost to Missy Elliott, while Odumodublvck missed out on the Best International Flow award, which was won by UK artist Ghetts.

The biggest surprise of the night was Megan Thee Stallion, who entered the awards with 12 nominations but left without a single win. In contrast, Kendrick Lamar had an incredible night, winning a total of eight awards from 11 nominations, making him the standout artist of the event.

Here are some highlights of the award winners:

  • Hip-Hop Artist of the Year: Kendrick Lamar
  • Hip-Hop Album of the Year: Pink Friday 2 by Nicki Minaj
  • Song of the Year: “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar
  • Best Breakthrough Hip-Hop Artist: Sexyy Red
  • Best Collaboration: “Like That” by Metro Boomin, Future, and Kendrick Lamar
  • Lyricist of the Year: Kendrick Lamar
  • Best Live Performer: Missy Elliott
  • Best International Flow: Ghetts (UK)

The night celebrated the best in hip-hop, showcasing both established stars and emerging talents. While Burna Boy and Odumodublvck may not have taken home any awards this year, the event highlighted the growing influence of African artists in the global music scene. The BET Hip Hop Awards continue to be a significant platform for recognizing and celebrating hip-hop talent worldwide.
