AFCON 2025Q: Libya arrive Nigeria For Super Eagles Clash (photos)

The Mediterranean Knights, Libya’s national football team, have landed in Nigeria to prepare for their upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifier. Set to face Nigeria’s Super Eagles, the game will take place on Friday at the Uyo Township Stadium, where fans are expected to gather for this exciting matchup.

Images shared on X showed the Libyan players touching down at Lagos’ Murtala Mohammed International Airport. From there, they will travel to Uyo for Friday’s match. This qualifying game marks the second time these teams have met in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, each looking to secure their spot in the prestigious tournament.

For the Super Eagles, most of the invited players have arrived in Uyo to prepare for the game. However, star player Victor Osimhen will miss out due to an injury, leaving Nigerian fans hopeful that the rest of the squad will fill his absence effectively.

The rivalry between Libya and Nigeria adds to the anticipation. Their last matchups were in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers, where Nigeria claimed a dominant 4-0 victory in Uyo and a 3-2 win in the return leg. Libya’s only win against Nigeria was back in the 2004 LG Invitational Tournament, a close 2-1 game.

With their histories in mind, fans are eager to see what the Mediterranean Knights and Super Eagles bring to the field this Friday. Will Nigeria continue its winning streak, or will Libya surprise the crowd? Stay tuned for what promises to be an exciting game!
