According to eyewitness accounts, the victim, Aliyu Abubakar Chiroma, and the suspect, Kabiru Abubakar, were known to be good friends. However, their relationship took a deadly turn during lunch. The situation deteriorated when Kabiru headbutted Chiroma, causing him to fall to the ground. Witnesses reported that the commotion drew the attention of nearby individuals who rushed to intervene. Despite their efforts to help, Chiroma was seriously injured and was transported to Burra General Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival.

Ahmad Usman Tata, the Public Relations Officer for the Bauchi State Correctional Service, also addressed the situation, clarifying that the altercation occurred outside the correctional facility. He noted that both officers were posted to Burra Correctional Centre, with Chiroma originating from Giade Local Government Area and Kabiru from Dass Local Government Area.
Following the incident, the body of Aliyu Abubakar Chiroma has been returned to his family for burial. Meanwhile, Kabiru Abubakar is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
