Revised List Follows Controversy Over Initial Composition
The latest appointments follow controversy surrounding the composition of the campaign council initially unveiled in August.
President Tinubu had earlier constituted the council ahead of the 2027 general elections, naming himself chairman, Vice President Kashim Shettima vice chairman, and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda another vice chairman.
Although Yari was appointed Director-General, the initial list generated debate over the inclusion and exclusion of several political figures and party leaders.
The Presidency had previously dismissed reports that the list was withdrawn for a comprehensive review, explaining that the campaign structure remained subject to adjustments as preparations progressed.
Sunday Dare, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, said during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily that additional appointments would be made to subcommittees yet to be constituted.
Dare explained that the campaign structure was still being developed and that more names would be added as the subcommittees took shape.
The revised council is expected to coordinate the APC’s nationwide mobilisation and campaign activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
