The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council as it intensifies preparations to mobilise support for the joint 2027 presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The campaign council, announced on Thursday, September 17, comprises zonal and state coordinators as well as directors responsible for various areas of the campaign structure.
The movement’s Director-General, John Ughulu, was appointed Director-General of the campaign council, while National Secretary Saadatu Sani was also listed among the campaign leadership.
The structure covers Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, with coordinators appointed for all 36 states.
Other positions include directors for grassroots mobilisation, women affairs, contact and engagement, special duties, procurement, information technology, legal affairs, strategy and planning, security and intelligence, and administration.
In a message congratulating the newly appointed members, Sani described their selection as a responsibility to take the movement’s message to Nigerians across the country.
“Your selection is not merely an appointment; it is a call to duty, sacrifice, leadership and service to Nigeria,” she said.
Sani urged members of the council to take the movement’s message beyond major cities and into local government areas, wards and communities.
She said the movement’s focus was on building a broader national platform rather than individual political ambitions.
“The OK Movement is not built around individuals seeking personal recognition. It is a movement driven by a larger national vision,” she stated.
According to Sani, the campaign would require grassroots mobilisation, strategic planning, effective communication and cooperation among members.
She added that the immediate responsibility of the council was to ensure that the message of Obi and Kwankwaso reached voters across the country.
Among the zonal coordinators named are Suleiman Abubakar for the North-Central, Hashimu Dungurawa for the North-West, Amadu Gwambe for the North-East, Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye for the South-West, Christopher Ighodaro for the South-South and El-Shaddai Ikeh for the South-East.
The movement also appointed coordinators for the 36 states and the FCT.
Other members include Rev. Mike Agbon, Director of Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria; Sabo Gashua, Director of Grassroots Mobilisation; Glory Adayi, Director of Women Affairs; Kabir Yahaya, Director of Contact and Engagement; Abdumumini Tijjani, Director of Mobilisation; Yusuf Mani, Director of Special Duties; Peace Daful, Director of Procurement; Prof. Charles Nwekeaku, Director of South Eastern Town Hall; and Sunmisola Adebayo, Director of Information Technology.
Kingdom Okere was appointed Director of Legal Affairs, while Abiodun Dabiri was named Director of Strategy and Planning.
Richard Enemona, a retired Chief Superintendent of Police, was appointed Director of Security and Intelligence, while Aisha Abdulrahaman was named Director of Administration.
The unveiling comes as Obi and Kwankwaso prepare for the 2027 election under the NDC. The two politicians formally joined the party in May after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while the NDC subsequently affirmed Obi and Kwankwaso as its presidential and vice-presidential candidates.
The movement has also maintained that it would operate as an independent structure while mobilising support for the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket.
With the campaign council now in place, the OK Movement is expected to expand its organisational and grassroots mobilisation activities across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
