Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued 14 abducted persons in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation, conducted on August 26, followed intelligence on suspected criminal activities around Magazu village. Troops deployed to the area encountered armed men attempting to abduct civilians, including motorists along the route.
The soldiers engaged the attackers, forcing them to abandon their vehicle and flee into the bush.
A subsequent search operation led to the rescue of all 14 victims. One of the rescued persons, who sustained a gunshot wound, was immediately taken to General Hospital, Tsafe, for medical treatment.
No military personnel were injured during the operation.
The military said the successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protect residents, disrupt criminal activities and prevent terrorists and other criminals from operating freely across Zamfara State.
