The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has arrested a man alleged to have disguised himself as a mentally unstable person while secretly engaging in kidnapping-related activities within the state.
Security sources disclosed that the suspect allegedly adopted the appearance of a “madman” to move freely across communities without attracting suspicion from residents or security operatives.
Authorities said the disguise enabled him to gather intelligence and reportedly coordinate activities linked to a suspected criminal network operating in the area.
The development has raised renewed concerns over the evolving tactics being deployed by criminal elements in parts of Nigeria, with security experts warning that suspects are increasingly resorting to unconventional disguises to evade detection.
Amotekun officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing, adding that efforts have been intensified to track down and dismantle other members of the suspected network.
Residents have also been advised to remain alert, monitor unusual movements within their communities, and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies as surveillance and patrol operations are strengthened across vulnerable areas.
Security agencies further reiterated warnings that criminal groups are continually changing operational strategies, stressing the importance of community collaboration in combating insecurity.
