Peter Obi, Kwankwaso lead ‘Save Democracy’ protest in Abuja

Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), joined supporters at the “Save Democracy Protest” happening at Maitama Roundabout in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Earlier, Obi announced the protest on his X account on Wednesday, urging Nigerians to stand up and defend the country’s democratic system.

He explained that members and leaders of the ADC, along with other concerned Nigerians, organized the demonstration to resist threats to democracy in Nigeria.

Obi said, “We, members and leaders of the ADC and other well-meaning Nigerians, lovers of democracy, are saying that our democracy must not be killed. We say no to a one-party system. Today, we are calling on Nigerians who believe in unity, peace, and the security of our country to join us as we defend democracy in our land.”

A flyer shared online before the protest read: “SAVE DEMOCRACY PROTEST! Defend our freedom, protect our vote! Save our democracy. You are welcome. Maitama Roundabout, Abuja. Your vote matters.”
