Rui Borges, the head coach of Sporting CP, has praised Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya after their UEFA Champions League clash.

Despite Kai Havertz scoring a late winning goal for Arsenal in Lisbon, Borges said Raya was the real difference in the match. According to him, Sporting created many good chances but could not score because of the goalkeeper’s brilliant saves.

Raya’s strong performance earned him the official Player of the Match award, as he stopped several dangerous attempts from Sporting players.

Speaking after the game, Borges explained that Raya deserved to be called the best player on the pitch because of how important his saves were. He also added, in a light way, that Sporting’s goalkeeper, Rui Silva, did not have much work to do, showing that the match was quite balanced.
