Wole Oluyede, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, has warned that keeping quiet in the face of poor leadership only makes things worse for the people.
He promised to bring development and progress to the state, urging residents to support him and vote massively for him in the June 20, 2026 governorship election.
In a statement released in Ado Ekiti through his media aide, Gani Salau, Oluyede said the growing problems of injustice, corruption, and hardship are not by chance but happen because people remain silent.
He explained that when people with bad intentions join forces, it becomes important for good citizens to also unite, or they risk being overpowered.
Oluyede stressed that staying silent is not harmless, adding that it allows corruption and bad leadership to grow without challenge.
To support his point, he quoted Edmund Burke, saying evil succeeds when good people do nothing, noting that fear and silence often give wrongdoing the chance to continue.
He added that even small efforts to resist injustice are better than doing nothing, as silence can make bad actions seem acceptable.
The PDP candidate also claimed that Ekiti has gone backwards since his party left power in 2018, blaming it on people not speaking up against poor governance.
Oluyede said he has the ability to bring real change, reduce poverty, and improve the state’s economy within his first term, based on his experience as a doctor and businessman.
He called on the people of Ekiti to take action with their votes, comparing the needed courage to that of determined warriors fighting for their future.
He expressed confidence that change is possible if voters reject bad leadership, adding that the PDP is united and ready to support his ambition.
