The head coach of Bayelsa United, Meremu Okara, has said that his team’s defeat was caused by avoidable mistakes.
Bayelsa United lost 1-0 to Abia Warriors in a match played at Umuahia Township Stadium on Monday.
The only goal of the match was scored by Chukwuemeka Obioma, which gave Abia Warriors the victory.
Okara explained that his team failed to use the chances they created, which also contributed to the loss.
He said football is about scoring goals, and although his team created opportunities, they could not convert them.
The coach added that Abia Warriors took advantage of a defensive mistake to score, while his team missed about three clear chances.
After the match, Bayelsa United remain in 16th position on the NPFL table and will need better performances to move up.
