Nigerian social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), has claimed that he received a call from the Department of State Services (DSS) regarding an alleged plan to organize a nationwide protest.
The issue is linked to the ongoing dispute between the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Recently, INEC announced that it would no longer recognize the ADC leadership led by former Senate President David Mark and former Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola.
The decision was reportedly based on a Court of Appeal ruling and a legal challenge filed by a factional leader, Nafiu Bala Gombe.
This situation has created confusion among opposition groups, especially those who had adopted the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
There are also signs that protests may happen, as the party has accused the government of President Bola Tinubu of being behind the crisis.
In a video shared on his Facebook page, VDM said a DSS official contacted him to ask about the alleged protest.
He claimed the caller questioned him about the purpose of the protest and suggested that it could lead to unrest across the country.
VDM said he denied any involvement, explaining that he is not planning any protest. He said he even asked the caller what protest they were referring to.
