FCT: Wike visits site of collapsed hotel, orders arrest of owner, contractor

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has visited the site of a collapsed building known as Ugo West Hotel in Jikwoyi, Abuja, and directed that the owner and contractor be arrested immediately.

Wike arrived at the location after reports of the incident and expressed anger over what happened, describing the collapse as unacceptable and blaming it on carelessness.

The building, which was still under construction before it collapsed, reportedly trapped several people, including workers. Rescue teams and local residents were seen trying to save those buried under the debris.

While speaking at the scene, the minister instructed security agencies to quickly arrest those responsible for the construction of the building.

He warned that the FCT Administration will not accept poor construction work and advised developers and contractors to follow proper building rules.

Wike also promised that a full investigation would be carried out to find out both the immediate and underlying causes of the collapse, adding that anyone found guilty would be punished according to the law.
