ADC crisis: Tinubu, Amupitan working to destroy opposition, democracy – Atiku’s aide

Paul Ibeh, media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has accused President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of working together to weaken opposition parties and damage democracy in Nigeria.

His comments come at a time when INEC has refused to recognize the leadership of David Mark in the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a post shared on X, Ibeh claimed that presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga suggested that Nafiu Bala had become the ADC national chairman, adding that this development may have been influenced by the President and INEC.

He questioned the situation, pointing out that INEC had earlier gone to court to challenge Bala’s eligibility for the same position, and wondered what had changed.

Ibeh also accused Tinubu and INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu (referred to as Amupitan) of planning what he described as a serious mistake in democracy, warning that such actions could push the country toward dictatorship.

He added that the situation looks similar to past political events in Nigeria’s history.

In his words, Ibeh alleged that those in power are working together to weaken opposition voices and control the political space, but warned that such a system would not last for long.
