Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take stronger action to address the growing insecurity in the country, saying it is time for real steps, not just words.
Atiku made this statement on Monday through his social media page while reacting to recent violent attacks in Plateau State, Benue State, Nasarawa State, and Kaduna State.
He reminded the president of his earlier promise that the attack in Angwan Rukuba, Plateau State, would not happen again, but expressed worry that another deadly incident occurred shortly after that assurance.
Atiku pointed out that within just a few days, another attack in Benue State led to the death of many people, raising questions about the effectiveness of the government’s response.
He also expressed concern over reports that residents in a community in Nasarawa State had to run for safety on foot due to fear of possible attacks.
In addition, he mentioned another recent attack in Kaduna State, describing the situation as very disturbing.
According to him, the main duty of any government is to protect lives, property, and ensure the well-being of its citizens.
He urged the president, as Commander-in-Chief, to face the challenges directly and take serious action, stressing that this is not the time for empty promises but for real work.
Atiku also shared his sympathy with families who lost their loved ones in the attacks.
