Oseni Rufai, a presenter on Arise TV, became emotional while talking about the late Musa Uba, who was killed during a terrorist attack in Borno State in November 2025.
During the programme, Rufai spoke about the painful details of how the senior officer died, saying the memory still deeply affects him.
He explained that General Uba had sent a distress message after his team was attacked while on duty, asking for urgent help as his phone battery was almost dead.
Rufai, visibly moved, said he felt like crying as he shared how the general pleaded to be rescued while trapped in the bush.
Sadly, he said help did not arrive on time to save him.
He added that the next report confirmed that the attackers caught and killed the general, recalling how his wife publicly expressed her grief and disappointment over what happened.
Brigadier General Uba was the commander of the 25 Task Force Brigade based in Damboa and was known for leading soldiers from the front during operations against insurgents.
He lost his life when his convoy was attacked by fighters of Islamic State West Africa Province near Wajiroko in Damboa Local Government Area while returning from a mission.
Although some early reports claimed he was captured before being killed, the Nigerian Army later honoured him for his courage and dedication in the fight against terrorism.
