‘Another presidential promise fails’ — Obi slams over fresh attack in Plateau

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has spoken out against the federal government following fresh attacks in parts of Nigeria, especially in Plateau State.

He criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for failing to keep a recent promise that violence in Jos would not happen again.

In a post shared on X, Obi pointed out that the President had only just visited victims in Jos on April 2 and assured them that such attacks would not repeat.

However, reports of another deadly incident in Nyamgo Gyel, Jos South, surfaced shortly after, raising concerns about the government’s response to insecurity.

Obi said the situation is not limited to Plateau State, noting that similar violent incidents have been reported in states like Nasarawa, Zamfara, Borno, Benue, and Kaduna. According to him, many communities are experiencing killings, kidnappings, and destruction of property.

He described the situation as a serious failure of leadership, stressing that the government is not fulfilling its basic duty of protecting lives and property. Obi added that Nigerians are now living in fear, even in places where they should feel safe.

Calling it a national emergency, he urged urgent action to address the growing insecurity, saying the country is in a critical state and the situation continues to get worse.
