Seek permit for live music band or risk sanctions – PMAN tells FCT hotel owners, others

The Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN), FCT chapter, has warned hotel owners, event planners, and others in the Federal Capital Territory to obtain proper permits before engaging live music bands. The group said defaulters risk sanctions.

PMAN acting governor, Michael Oyibo Kaycee, said the directive is to ensure order and proper standards in the entertainment industry. He made this known during a press briefing in Abuja.

He stressed that only certified and approved musicians should be engaged for events. According to him, the association will no longer tolerate exploitation or underpayment of musicians.

Kaycee explained that a task force has been set up to enforce compliance across Abuja. He added that stakeholders have ignored the rules for too long and must now follow due process.

The association also pointed out the rise of digital platforms, noting that many talents now gain global recognition online. This, it said, has changed how entertainment content is distributed and consumed.

PMAN called on the Nyesom Wike to support efforts to regulate the industry. It believes stronger enforcement will protect musicians and improve the sector.
