A major drug bust in New Delhi has led to the arrest of a Nigerian national and the seizure of cocaine worth about ₦1.49 billion. The operation was carried out by the Delhi Police in the Mehrauli area.

The suspect, identified as John Chibuike, was arrested during a raid at his residence in Islam Colony. Authorities say over one kilogram of cocaine was recovered during the operation.

Police reports indicate that the suspect was involved in supplying drugs across parts of South and South-East Delhi. He had also been linked to a previous narcotics case filed in 2022.

Officials confirmed that the operation was part of ongoing efforts under a broader anti-drug campaign. The recovered substances have dealt a major blow to the illegal drug network operating in the region.

A senior police officer, Anant Mittal, stated that the operation was carefully coordinated by law enforcement teams. Investigations are ongoing to uncover other members of the network.

Authorities say they remain committed to tackling drug trafficking and dismantling criminal groups. The case highlights continued efforts to reduce drug-related crime in India.
