Nigerian Army foils bomb attack, kills suspected terrorists in Borno ambush

Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully stopped a planned bomb attack in Borno State after engaging suspected terrorists in a late-night ambush. The operation took place along a major road frequently used by civilians and security forces.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 11:30 pm on the Maiduguri–Konduga–Kawuri route. Soldiers from the 222 Battalion were on patrol when they noticed suspicious movement by individuals attempting to plant an explosive device.

The troops quickly responded, launching an attack using heavy weapons. The confrontation led to an explosion that eliminated several of the suspects and disrupted the planned attack before it could be carried out.

Security sources revealed that the group was likely assigned to plant improvised explosive devices along the busy corridor. The road remains a key route for both military logistics and civilian movement in the region.

During a search operation after the clash, soldiers recovered two AK-47 rifles from the scene. However, no additional dangerous materials were found in the immediate area.

Military sources confirmed that surveillance and clearance operations are still ongoing. Troops continue to maintain high alertness as efforts to secure the North-East intensify.
