Jos crisis: Body of missing man found in mortuary

A man who was earlier declared missing in Jos has been found dead. The victim, identified as Ebubechukwu Ihionu, was discovered in the mortuary of Plateau State Specialist Hospital on Thursday, April 2, 2026. His disappearance had been reported by his family a day earlier.

According to reports shared online, Ihionu went missing on April 1 during the unrest in Jos North Local Government Area. The tension in the area had already caused fear among residents, leading to concerns about people’s safety.

The violence reportedly started as a reaction to the Palm Sunday attack in Angwan Rukuba. What began as a tense situation quickly spread to other parts of Jos, including Nasarawa, Katako Junction, Farin Gada, and Angwan Rogo.

Eyewitnesses said the crisis escalated when some individuals took advantage of the situation to cause chaos. There were reports of attacks on properties and attempts to spread violence across nearby communities.

Security forces, including the Nigerian Army and other agencies, were deployed to control the situation. Their quick response helped to reduce the spread of the violence and restore calm in the affected areas.
