Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has alleged that there were plans to arrest his elder brother ahead of their mother’s burial.

He claimed the move was intended to pressure him into negotiations with authorities.

According to him, his brother Bashir avoided travelling to Nigeria to escape the alleged arrest.

El-Rufai made the claim while speaking about the circumstances surrounding his family during the mourning period.

Their mother, Hajiya Umma, passed away in Egypt and was later buried in Abuja.

The development comes amid El-Rufai’s ongoing legal battle with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission over corruption allegations.
