The Nigerian Law Society has threatened to take legal action if the Chief Justice of Nigeria Kudirat Kekere-Ekun fails to act on its demands regarding alleged misconduct in the legal profession.
The group is calling for the referral of Afam Osigwe to the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee for review and possible disciplinary action.
NLS also urged the CJN to introduce clear rules that would allow judges to sanction lawyers who misbehave during court proceedings.
The group said these measures are necessary to maintain discipline and protect the integrity of the justice system.
It also referenced concerns over rising cases of professional misconduct among lawyers, calling for stricter enforcement of rules in court.
NLS warned that if its requests are not met by April 1, 2026, it will proceed to file a lawsuit against the CJN and other judicial bodies.
