Strait of Hormuz: Why I extended deadline for Iran – Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump has explained why he extended the deadline given to Iran over the Strait of Hormuz situation.

Trump said the decision was influenced by ongoing negotiations, which he described as showing some level of progress between both sides.

He noted that the extension would allow more time for diplomacy and avoid immediate escalation, especially as talks continue through intermediaries.

The U.S. had earlier threatened strikes on Iranian energy facilities if the waterway remained restricted, making the delay a strategic pause.

Trump also pointed to what he called positive signals from Iran, including actions seen as goodwill gestures during the negotiations.

The move reflects a balancing act between military pressure and diplomacy, as both sides remain engaged in efforts to resolve tensions in the region.
