FG rolls out Lenacapavir injection to boost HIV prevention

The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced Lenacapavir as part of efforts to strengthen HIV prevention across the country.

Health officials say the injection offers a more convenient option compared to daily oral drugs, as it is administered only twice a year.

The rollout is expected to target high-risk individuals and improve adherence to prevention methods nationwide.

Authorities explained that the initiative will support ongoing efforts to reduce new infections and improve public health outcomes.

The programme is being implemented in selected states, with plans for wider expansion as awareness and access improve.

Experts believe the introduction of the drug marks a major step forward in Nigeria’s fight against HIV and long-term disease control.
