Naira records first appreciation against US dollar

The Naira appreciated on Tuesday against the US Dollar at the official foreign exchange market for the first time in two working days.

Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed it rose to N1,382.63 from N1,388.38 on Monday, marking a gain of N5.7 per dollar.

This uptrend followed a N34.48 decline recorded on Monday, showing renewed stability in the official market.

At the black market, the Naira remained unchanged at N1,410–N1,412 per dollar, according to multiple Bureau de Change operators in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.

Nigeria’s foreign reserves fell to $49.61 billion on March 23 from $49.78 billion on March 18, per CBN data, indicating ongoing pressure on the currency.

The Naira’s rally had paused last Wednesday before the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays but resumed on Monday, continuing a cautious upward trend in the official exchange market.
