US vs Iran: Pope Leo blasts aerial military strikes

Pope Leo XIV has strongly criticised the use of aerial military strikes in the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Iran, and Israel, saying such bombardments are indiscriminate and should be banned.

Speaking at a public event, he emphasised that no one should live in fear of destruction from above, calling modern air attacks a regression rather than progress in human history.

The Pope has repeatedly urged a ceasefire and an immediate end to the “spiral of violence” gripping the Middle East, warning that continued strikes could lead to a tragedy of enormous proportions.

He has also pressed world leaders to pursue dialogue and diplomacy instead of military action, stressing that peace must be built on human dignity, not destruction.

Pope Leo’s comments reflect the Vatican’s long-standing stance against violence and its appeal for moral responsibility among powerful nations.

As the conflict continues, the pontiff’s call for peace stands as a moral plea to shift focus from military escalation to negotiation and humanitarian protection.
