Tinubu appears to be gunning for third term in office, one party state – VDM alleges

Content creator and social media influencer VeryDarkMan has claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may be planning to extend his rule beyond the 2027 elections, eyeing a third term.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, VDM alleged, “I don’t think President Tinubu is preparing for 2027 alone; he is preparing for 2030 too.”

He cited the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) control of 31 out of 35 states and its strong presence in the National Assembly as evidence of a consolidation of power.

VDM warned that these political moves suggest a push toward a one-party system, which could limit opposition and democratic balance in Nigeria.

He stressed that with the APC’s dominance, manipulating election outcomes could be easier, giving Tinubu an advantage for extending his tenure.

The social media figure’s comments have sparked debate on social platforms, with Nigerians expressing concern over potential third-term ambitions and the future of democratic governance in the country.
