Iran denies talks with US, warns against attack on key infrastructure

Iran has publicly denied having any direct talks with the United States, rejecting claims by U.S. officials that diplomatic discussions had taken place to end the conflict. Tehran insists it is not engaging in negotiations, calling the reports false.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry and parliamentary speaker both rejected assertions of direct contact with Washington, saying no official dialogue is ongoing despite recent U.S. statements claiming “productive” conversations.

Iran also warned that any attack on its key infrastructure would prompt serious retaliation, particularly against military and energy targets belonging to countries it views as hostile.

The denials come amid rising tensions in the Middle East, with back-and-forth strikes between Iran, Israel, and U.S. forces creating uncertainty about the future of the conflict.

While U.S. leaders said they paused threats of strikes on Iranian power plants, Iran’s stance emphasized that it would continue defending itself and respond strongly if attacked.

Analysts say the dispute over whether talks are actually happening highlights deep mistrust between Tehran and Washington, and could shape the next phase of the crisis.
