A security scare has hit the French Navy after a sailor accidentally revealed the position of its flagship carrier, Charles de Gaulle.
The crew member reportedly recorded a jogging session on the deck and uploaded it to Strava, which publicly displayed the ship’s route and location.
The incident occurred during an active mission in the eastern Mediterranean, near Cyprus, raising serious concerns about operational security.
The deployment was part of efforts backed by Emmanuel Macron to protect key maritime routes amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
Military officials confirmed the action violated strict security rules and stressed the need for better awareness of digital risks among personnel.
The case highlights how everyday apps can expose sensitive military data, especially during a time of heightened tension around routes like the Strait of Hormuz.
