An APC chieftain, Suleiman, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu over the zoning of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket for Kwara in 2027.
Suleiman argued that ignoring established zoning arrangements could create unrest within the party and weaken its unity ahead of the elections.
He emphasized that zoning has historically ensured fair representation among the state’s regions and political stakeholders.
The APC chieftain also warned that bypassing zoning could lead to internal crises, disputes, or defections to opposition parties.
Party members have expressed differing opinions on whether the governorship ticket should rotate between local zones or be open to all aspirants.
Suleiman urged Tinubu and the national leadership to consider the long-term impact on party cohesion and voter confidence before finalizing the selection process.
