President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during his visit to Windsor Castle, pointed out notable sports stars of Nigerian heritage while addressing King Charles III. He used them to show the strong connection between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Among those mentioned were footballers Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze, as well as boxer Anthony Joshua. Tinubu said their success reflects the deep cultural and human ties between both nations.
The president explained that Nigeria and the UK share more than history. According to him, both countries are united by common values, progress, and resilience built over many years.
He also praised Nigerians living in the UK, describing them as one of the most active diaspora communities in the world. He noted their strong contributions to sectors like healthcare and the economy.
Tinubu highlighted the role of Nigerians working in the National Health Service, saying they are among the largest groups of foreign medical professionals supporting healthcare delivery.
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of continued partnership through the Commonwealth of Nations, expressing Nigeria’s readiness to support its growth and strengthen global cooperation.
