The Kano State Government has raised concerns over alleged plans by some individuals to disrupt the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations. Authorities said intelligence reports from the State Security Council indicate possible attempts to create unrest during the Sallah period.
In response, the government assured residents of its commitment to maintaining peace and protecting lives and property. Officials stressed that while cultural traditions are important, security remains the top priority during the festive season.
After consultations with the Kano Emirate Council and other stakeholders, new arrangements were announced for the Durbar activities. The Hawan Idi will proceed under the leadership of Muhammad Sanusi II along approved routes in the city.
The government revealed that Hawan Nasarawa will hold in a modified format without horseback displays. Meanwhile, Hawan Daushe, Hawan Fanisau, and Hawan Dorayi have been suspended to ensure public safety.
Security agencies have been directed to intensify surveillance and enforce compliance with the new measures. Residents were advised to remain calm, follow guidelines, and avoid spreading unverified information that could heighten tension.
The government appreciated the efforts of security personnel and encouraged cooperation from the public. It also wished all Muslims a peaceful and joyful Eid celebration, urging unity and responsible conduct throughout the festivities.
