US intelligence has found that Iran is not reconstructing nuclear enrichment facilities destroyed in a June 2025 US-Israeli attack. This assessment contradicts President Donald Trump’s claims that Iran posed an imminent nuclear threat.
Tulsi Gabbard, director of national intelligence and Trump ally, shared the findings in written testimony for the Senate’s annual threat assessment. She confirmed that Iran has made no effort to rebuild its destroyed enrichment capacity.
During the hearing, Gabbard said the conclusion was not fully repeated on camera due to time limits but was included in her written report. She did not dispute the assessment.
Trump had cited Iran’s supposed nuclear threat to justify the February 28 attacks, claiming Tehran was weeks from a bomb. Observers and intelligence officials disagree with this claim.
Gabbard noted that Iran has suffered significant losses, including the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but the regime remains largely intact despite degradation of its military and leadership.
The US intelligence community warns that while Iran’s nuclear program is halted, the country may begin a years-long process to rebuild its military, missile, and drone capabilities.
