Iran War: Australia confirms Iran strikes hit near airbase

The government of Australia has confirmed that an Iranian strike landed near a military base in the United Arab Emirates where its troops are stationed. The incident has raised fresh concerns about the widening impact of the ongoing regional conflict.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the strike occurred close to the Al Minhad Air Base, which hosts over 100 Australian personnel. He noted that the situation is being closely monitored by authorities.

According to Albanese, the explosion caused a fire that damaged parts of an accommodation block and a medical facility within the base. Despite the damage, he confirmed that no Australian troops were injured.

Reports indicate that an Iranian projectile hit a nearby road, though officials are still investigating whether it was a missile or a drone. The government also stated that it is unclear if the base was the intended target.

Albanese emphasized that Australia is not at war but acknowledged that Iran’s actions are affecting multiple areas across the region. He described the attacks as widespread and unpredictable.

This marks the second incident involving the base in recent weeks, following an earlier drone strike. The development highlights the growing risks faced by foreign military personnel amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
