We want to return home, farm’ – Displaced people of Bokkos cry out

Displaced residents of Bokkos in Plateau State have called on Governor Caleb Mutfwang to fulfill promises to help them return to their ancestral lands. The coalition says Fulani bandits, terrorists, and land grabbers have occupied their fertile farms, forcing them into Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps.

In an open letter, the group lamented extreme hardship, hunger, and deprivation, revealing that some children have turned to begging while wives and daughters resort to prostitution to survive. They stressed that their lands remain uncultivated as the occupiers focus solely on grazing and cattle rearing.

The coordinators, Mangut Alfred, Micah Malo, and David Arandong, appealed for urgent action, noting that some families have been displaced for over five years. They emphasized their desire to return, farm their lands, and restore normal life as the rainy season approaches.

They concluded by urging the governor to act promptly, saying they are hardworking farmers and not lazy people, and appealed emotionally for a resolution to end their suffering and reclaim their ancestral homes.
