Reports suggest that Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s new Supreme Leader, was flown to Russia for emergency surgery after an airstrike reportedly killed his father, Ali Khamenei. Sources claim he was treated in a clinic inside one of President Putin’s palaces.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov declined to confirm or deny the reports, calling them “uncommented” and highlighting the secrecy surrounding Mojtaba’s health and security. The operation was said to be successful, according to sources close to the Iranian leader.
US figures, including Donald Trump and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, have expressed doubts about Mojtaba’s condition, raising concerns that he may be seriously injured or disfigured. Meanwhile, Iranian officials maintain he is healthy and fully managing the country’s affairs.
Iran’s Foreign Affairs Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran is prepared to work with regional countries to investigate the recent attacks. He emphasized that Iran’s military actions target only US bases and interests, sparing civilian areas in neighboring nations.
