In a shocking development, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) say they have destroyed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s private plane. Reports also claim that his son and successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, has been seriously injured and flown to Russiafor treatment.
According to the IDF, the plane was at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport and was used by Khamenei and other top officials for military purchases and international communications.
Mojtaba, 56, took over as Iran’s Supreme Leader after his father was assassinated on February 28. Several reports suggest he is in a coma and his injuries are severe.
Al-Jarida, a Kuwaiti news outlet, claims that President Vladimir Putin personally arranged Mojtaba’s surgery in Russia. The plan to move him out of Iran was meant to be secret, and he reportedly traveled on a Russian military planeto one of Putin’s palaces, where he underwent successful surgery.
The report has not been officially confirmed, but Al-Jarida says its information comes from a high-ranking source close to Iran’s new Supreme Leader.
The source added that Mojtaba was injured during Operation Epic Fury, a US military action, and his injuries could not be treated in Iran because of ongoing attacks.
It’s still unclear whether Mojtaba was hurt in the same strikes that killed his father. Another source told The Sun that he is in very serious condition and received care at Sina University Hospital in Mashhad.
The same source claims that Mojtaba may have lost one or both legs and suffered internal injuries, leaving him in a coma. He was reportedly under the care of Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi, Iran’s Health Minister, and a top trauma surgeon.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed that Mojtaba is injured and described him as likely hurt and disfigured.
This shocking series of events signals major instability in Iran, with international powers closely watching the situation.
