ADC alleges plot to use INEC to install Tinubu’s ally as party chair

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that there is a plan to use the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to impose a new party chairman linked to Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The party claimed the move could interfere with its internal democratic process.

According to party officials, the alleged plot aims to place a political ally of the president in charge of the party’s leadership. ADC leaders warned that such interference could create tension and undermine the independence of political parties in the country.

The party also expressed concern that using an electoral body to influence internal party matters would weaken public confidence in democratic institutions. ADC leaders urged relevant authorities to respect the party’s constitutional process for choosing its leadership.

Meanwhile, the electoral commission has not issued an official response to the allegations. Observers say the development could spark fresh debate about political independence and party leadership ahead of future elections.
