Navy destroys illegal crude oil storage site in Rivers

The Nigerian Navy has destroyed an illegal crude oil storage facility discovered in Rivers State as part of its ongoing fight against oil theft in the Niger Delta. The operation was carried out during routine patrol activities aimed at stopping illegal refining and environmental damage.

Naval officials said the illegal site was used to store stolen crude oil before it was transported for illegal refining. Security personnel dismantled the facility and destroyed the storage containers found at the location.

Authorities explained that activities such as illegal bunkering and crude oil theft continue to harm the environment and reduce government revenue. The navy said it remains committed to intensifying operations to curb these illegal activities across the region.

The military also warned individuals involved in crude oil theft to stop such activities, stressing that more patrols and enforcement actions will continue in the Niger Delta to protect national resources.
