Mikel Arteta has defended Bukayo Saka after the winger faced criticism following Arsenal’s recent match against Bayer Leverkusen. The Arsenal F.C. star struggled during the game and was substituted in the second half.
Saka was taken off in the 60th minute and replaced by Noni Madueke during the clash in the UEFA Champions League. Madueke later won a penalty that Kai Havertz converted to secure a 2–2 draw for Arsenal.
Speaking after the game, Arteta expressed full confidence in the young winger despite his recent dip in form. The manager praised Saka’s influence and contribution to the team at such a young age.
Arteta explained that every player can have an off day, stressing that Saka remains one of the most important players in the squad. He added that the winger’s overall impact and consistency for the club remain impressive.
