The government of Australia has ordered all non-essential officials to leave Israel and the United Arab Emirates as security concerns grow across the region.
The decision follows increasing instability linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict.
Foreign Minister Penny Wong said the move was necessary because of the rapidly changing security situation. She explained that while non-essential personnel are being withdrawn, key diplomatic staff will remain to assist Australian citizens.
The Australian government also repeated its travel warning, advising citizens to avoid traveling to Israel and the UAE. Authorities warned that the security environment could worsen quickly due to the escalating regional tensions.
Officials in Canberra said about 115,000 Australians are currently in different parts of the Middle East. So far, around 2,600 citizens have already returned home since the crisis intensified.
