U.S. President Donald Trump has said the United States is intentionally avoiding attacks on Iran’s power and electricity infrastructure, even though American forces have strong military capabilities in the ongoing conflict. Trump explained that striking those civilian systems would cause massive destruction and recovery could take decades, so Washington is choosing restraint for now.
Trump noted that U.S. operations have already significantly weakened Iran’s military forces and that Iran’s naval and air defence systems have been largely neutralised, but he stressed the decision not to hit electricity facilities unless absolutely necessary.
While emphasising restraint, Trump also warned that such infrastructure could be targeted if the U.S. decides to escalate the campaign further to prevent Iran from rebuilding its military strength.
The president said the main focus remains on stopping Iran’s ability to threaten regional security and that avoiding damage to civilian systems is part of managing the conflict responsibly.
