Donald Trump’s lawyers have requested that New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office provide all communications with former lawyer Michael Cohen. The demand includes transcripts, emails, notes, letters, and recordings, following Cohen’s claim that he was pressured to testify against Trump.
The filing comes ahead of a court submission regarding the reinstatement of a civil fraud penalty against Trump, previously dismissed by the New York State Court of Appeals. Trump’s team argued Cohen’s testimony was central to the case and that access to his communications is vital for the defense.
Cohen previously alleged in a Substack post that both the Attorney General’s and Manhattan DA’s offices pressured him to support legal action against Trump. His earlier trial testimony involved claims of inflated asset values at the Trump Organization alongside Allen Weisselberg.
Trump’s lawyers also requested that James’ office preserve all relevant records until litigation concludes, accusing prosecutors of failing to provide critical materials despite repeated defense requests. The attorney general’s office has not publicly responded.
