Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran over threats to disrupt shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The US leader said any attempt by Iran to block oil shipments through the vital route would trigger severe military retaliation.
Trump stated that the United States would respond “twenty times harder” than previous strikes if Iran interferes with the flow of oil. He warned that American forces could target key sites in Iran, adding that “death, fire and fury” would follow if the strait is closed.
The warning comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East and concerns about global energy supply. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important oil transit routes, with a large portion of global crude shipments passing through the narrow waterway each day.
Analysts say any disruption to shipping in the strait could push oil prices higher and affect international markets. Trump said his warning is meant to protect global trade and ensure the continuous flow of energy to countries that rely on the route.
