The Nigeria Revenue Service has launched a Curriculum Review Committee through the NRS Academy to improve taxation education in Nigerian institutions. The committee was inaugurated on February 24, 2026, at the academy in Durumi to support a more modern tax administration system.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Director of the academy, Adeolu Akinyemi, said the initiative aims to build a stronger partnership with the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. He explained that the goal is to create a structured curriculum that reflects the realities of modern tax policies and administration.
The committee has been tasked with reviewing existing tax courses in Nigerian schools and suggesting improvements. It will focus on new areas such as digital taxation, global tax practices, and updated legislation to ensure students gain practical knowledge relevant to the country’s tax system.
According to the NRS, the reform will help produce skilled tax professionals and promote voluntary tax compliance nationwide. The review process is expected to last about 60 days, after which recommendations for implementing the updated curriculum will be presented.
