Trump Honors Messi & MLS Cup Champion Inter Miami at White House

US President Donald Trump hosted a special event at the Inter Miami CF team at the White House to celebrate their 2025 MLS Cup victory. The Argentine star Lionel Messi and his teammates were honored for winning the league title, marking a major achievement in American soccer.

Messi, who was named MVP for the second straight season, presented Trump with a pink soccer ball and Inter Miami memorabilia during the ceremony. Trump praised the team’s success and highlighted how the club’s win has helped raise the profile of soccer in the United States.

Alongside Messi were teammates such as Luis Suárez, Rodrigo De Paul and coach Javier Mascherano, who also took part in the celebration with Trump and MLS Commissioner Don Garber. Inter Miami’s rise — including their MLS Cup final win over the Vancouver Whitecaps — was part of Trump’s remarks.

Trump used the occasion to mix praise for sports excellence with broader commentary, but the focus remained on celebrating the club’s historic season. It was Messi’s first visit to the White House, and the event drew attention from fans and leaders alike ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
