President Trump rejects Khamenei’s son, says he must be involved in choosing Iran’s next supreme leader

U.S. President Donald Trump has rejected the idea of Mojtaba Khamenei becoming Iran’s next supreme leader. The American leader said he considers the possibility unacceptable and insisted the United States should have a role in the process of choosing the next leader of Iran.

Trump made the remarks during an interview, explaining that Washington wants a leader who can bring peace and stability to the country. He said appointing a successor who continues the policies of Ali Khamenei could lead to further conflict with the United States in the future.

The comments came as discussions continue within Iran about who should replace the late supreme leader. Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the former leader, has been mentioned among possible successors, but Trump dismissed him as unsuitable for the position.

In Iran, the decision on the next supreme leader is normally made by the Assembly of Experts, a powerful clerical body responsible for selecting the country’s top authority. Trump’s statement has sparked debate internationally about whether foreign governments should influence Iran’s leadership transition.
