The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief materials to traders affected by a recent fire at Akatumosa Market in Ilesa West, Osun State. The exercise, held on March 5, 2026, was aimed at easing the economic impact of the disaster on the victims.
Barrister Aderigbigbe Bukola, General Manager of the Osun State Emergency Management Agency, urged traders to remain disaster-conscious and adopt preventive measures to reduce future risks. He emphasised the importance of preparedness alongside recovery efforts.
Mr. Kadiri Olanrewaju, Head of Operations at NEMA Ibadan, called on beneficiaries to strengthen their disaster response mechanisms. He noted that while relief materials provide short-term support, they cannot fully replace the losses suffered.

Key stakeholders, including market leaders, security officials, and government representatives, were present during the distribution. They highlighted collaboration between local authorities and federal agencies as crucial in supporting disaster victims.
